Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. As a young girl, she moved to Oxfordshire where she attended the Dragon School. Emma's dream was to become an actor. When she was six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons on singing, acting, as well as dancing. In a school play and the stage of a Stagecoach Production, Emma was as the lead role at age 10 and performed. The casting process began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Agents for casting found Emma by way of her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through eight straight auditions. Emma's first film on the screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. It set records in terms of the opening weekend and numbers, and was the most-recorded 2001 movie. Reviewers have been highly lauding the film, as well as the performance of the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph in Britain and the Daily Telegraph in America, widely read the newspaper, described her performance as outstanding. Emma's performance was nominated and was awarded five awards for the movie.
